What is NAD+ Used For?

The aging process involves the accumulation of DNA damage, mitochondrial defects, progressive tissue degeneration and atrophy, and the development of metabolic dysfunction and weakness. Aging is also accompanied by decreased levels of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+). Found in virtually all living cells, NAD+ is essential to sustain life. It has a dual role in protecting against factors that age us. This includes mitigating chemical stress, inflammation, DNA damage, and failing mitochondria. At the same time, NAD+ promotes longevity by facilitating DNA repair, immune cell signaling, energy enzyme activity, production of sirtuins (which aid in sustaining telomere maintenance), energy production (ATP), brain and heart health, sleep cycles, and more.  

Who Should Not Take This Medication?

NAD+ should not be taken by children, pets, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those who are allergic to any of the ingredients in NAD+. This medication has no known interactions with medications and has no known contraindications, but it is possible unknown interactions and contraindications exist. Caution should be applied if you have an active cancer, and NAD+ use should be cleared by your oncologist prior to its use.

How Will I Be Monitored?

You should be in contact with your provider at least every six to twelve months.

What Should I Do If I Miss A Dose?

It depends on timing. If you are taking NAD+ on a regular schedule and you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.

How Do I Take This Medication?

NAD+ comes as a liquid and is injected subcutaneously. Your personal dosage will be based on your medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications you’re taking. Please take it as directed by your provider.

How Do I Store This Medication?

Store this medication in a refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Keep all medications away from children and pets. Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Please dispose of medication according to local, state, and EPA laws.

What Are The Precautions While On NAD+?

Potential side effects include: headache, shortness of breath, constipation, increased plasma bilirubin, nausea, brain fog, cramping during therapy, redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site.
