WHAT IS TADALAFIL USED FOR?
Tadalafil assists in the treatment of male erectile dysfunction. During sexual arousal, tadalafil helps increase blood flow into the penis leading to a prolonged erection.
Tadalafil is also used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH). Symptoms include difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream, and the need to urinate frequently or urgently, including during the night.
WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION?
Tadalafil should not be taken by children, pets, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those who are allergic to any of the ingredients in tadalafil. It should not be taken by those with
uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart failure, angina, heart attack within the past 90 days, stroke within the past 12 months, aortic stenosis, penile deformities, sickle cell disease, multiple myeloma, or leukemia.
It should not be taken in conjunction with nitrates, alpha blockers, or Riociguat.
Make sure your health care provider knows if you have: low blood pressure, bleeding disorders, kidney disease, or liver disease.
HOW WILL I BE MONITORED?
You should be in contact with your provider at least every six to twelve months.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I MISS A DOSE?
It depends on timing. If you are taking tadalafil on a regular schedule and you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.
HOW DO I TAKE THIS MEDICATION?
Tadalafil comes as a tablet and is to be taken orally with or without food. Your personal dosage will be based on your medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications you’re taking. Please take it as directed by your provider.
HOW DO I STORE THIS MEDICATION?
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets. Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Please dispose of medication according to local, state, and EPA laws.
WHAT ARE THE PRECAUTIONS WHILE ON TADALAFIL?
Potential side effects include: back/limb pain, cold-like symptoms, dizziness, shortness of breath, flushing, headache, muscle pain, nasal congestion, ringing in the ears, prolonged painful erection, reflux, and fatigue.
If an erection has been present for 4 hours and/or is painful, you should seek medical attention immediately for further evaluation and treatment.
In the event you feel you are in imminent danger or have signs of an allergic reaction (skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat; trouble breathing or swallowing), you should contact emergency services immediately. For general symptoms, please advise your provider.
