HOW DOES CLOMIPHENE CITRATE FUNCTION IN MEN?
Clomiphene citrate acts on the hypothalamus to increase the secretion of GnRH, which increases LH and FSH secretion from the pituitary gland. This signals the testes to produce more testosterone. Clomiphene citrate might be prescribed by your provider for "off-label" use of an FDA-approved drug. Please consult with your provider for any questions regarding “off-label” use.

WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION?
Clomiphene citrate should not be taken by children, pets, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those who are allergic to any of the ingredients in clomiphene citrate.
Make sure your health care provider knows if you have: heart disease, osteoporosis, high cholesterol, liver disease, history of liver dysfunction, testicular cancer, kidney disease, adrenal gland disease, blood vessel disease, pituitary gland disease, or vision problems. Clomiphene citrate may increase the probability that you and your partner get pregnant.
HOW WILL I BE MONITORED?
You should be in contact with your provider at least every six months. Your provider should obtain and review regular blood work while you are on clomiphene citrate.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MISS A DOSE?
It depends on timing. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.
HOW DO I TAKE THIS MEDICATION?
Clomiphene citrate comes as a tablet and is to be taken orally. Your personal dosage will be based on your medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications you are taking. Please take it as directed by your provider.
HOW DO I STORE THIS MEDICATION?
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets. Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Please dispose of medication according to local, state, and EPA laws.
WHAT ARE THE PRECAUTIONS WHILE ON CLOMIPHENE CITRATE?
Potential side effects include: mild nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness.
Some of the adverse reactions may include blurred vision or spots/flashes in your field of vision. These are usually reversible after stopping therapy. However, they may become irreversible with prolonged duration and increased dosage.
Patients with visual disturbances, fluid retention, nausea, vomiting, or sudden weight gain should discontinue use immediately and contact your health care provider. Possible negative interactions may occur with dietary or herbal supplements such as black/blue cohosh, DHEA, chasteberry, or prasterone. This is not a full list of all possible interactions.
In the event you feel you are in imminent danger or have signs of an allergic reaction (skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat; trouble breathing or swallowing), you should contact emergency services immediately. For general symptoms, please advise your provider.
