What's My Dosage? Follow
Great question! There are a couple of things people usually mean when they ask this question:
- How much medication should I take and when? (What's my dosing schedule?)
- What's the strength of my medication? (What's the dosage strength of my medication?)
- How much total medication should I have? (What's my prescription?)
What's my dosing schedule?
Your dosing schedule is set by your physician is set by your Hone-affiliated physician during your consultation. During your consultation, your physician will make sure to tell you the amount of medication you're prescribed and the frequency you should administer it (e.g. 0.5 mL once per week, 1 pill per week).
What's the dosage strength of my medication?
The dosage strength of your medication is ordered by your Hone-affiliated physician based on the supply available through our partner pharmacies and manufacturers. It's often represented as of mass and volume, depending on the delivery method for your medication.
For example, testosterone cypionate is typically manufactured at 200mg/mL - i.e. for each milliliter of solution, there is 200mg of testosterone cypionate. Utilizing 0.5mL of this solution delivers 100mg of testosterone.
For oral medication like clomiphene citrate or anastrozole, volume is typically represented per pill - i.e. your prescription may have a dosage strength of 50mg per pill (so half of one pill delivers 25mg of medication).
What's my prescription?
Your prescription is determined by your Hone-affiliated physician during your consultation, as they review your lab work, your symptoms, and other relevant information as determined by their medical expertise. It's also determined based on your prescribed dosing schedule and the dosage strength of medication available.
Your prescription is written as a reflection of the total amount of medication you will need for a 28 day period (4 weeks).
For example, if your Hone-affiliated physician has prescribed you testosterone cypionate with a dosage strength of 200mg/mL and a dosing schedule of 100mg per week (i..e 0.5mL), then your prescription will be for 2mL of testosterone cypionate at 200mg/mL to provide you with enough medication for a 4 week period.
Alternatively, if your Hone-affiliated physician has prescribed you testosterone cypionate with a dosage strength of 200mg/mL and a dosing schedule of 1mL per week (i.e. 200mg), then your prescription will be 4mL of testosterone cypionate.
