Testosterone Injection Instructions Follow
Testosterone injections are administered either through subcutaneous injections or intramuscular injections at various injection sites throughout the body. Refer to your physicians injection instructions to determine if your dosage should be administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injections.
If you're not sure whether your dosage should be administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, please contact us at support@honehealth.com for assistance.
Step One: Organize your Materials
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
- Your testosterone prescription vial
- Fresh alcohol wipes
- A new syringe
- A Sharps container to safely throw away your injection materials
Step Two: Sanitize
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol wipe to disinfect the top of your testosterone vial before you insert a syringe.
Step Three: Draw your testosterone to the correct dose
Open your injection needle and pull the syringe down to the appropriate dosage based on your prescription. Then pierce the rubber ring of your testosterone prescription vial with the drawing needle. Press the plunger down to push the air into the testosterone vial - this will help remove air from your syringe to avoid bubbles in your needle.
Hold the vial upside down, and slowly pull the testosterone into the syringe to the appropriate dosage.
Step Four: Aspirate the syringe
Gently tap the syringe with your finger and then slowly press the plunger to remove any air bubbles from the needle. Continue doing this carefully until there is only testosterone within the syringe.
Step Five: Inject the Testosterone
Before you inject, use an alcohol wipe to clean the injection site on your body. Rub the alcohol wipe in a circular motion outward from the injection site to ensure the area is clean. Your testosterone injection may be intramuscular or subcutaneous depending on your unique protocol.
Hold the needle at a 90-degree angle, pierce the skin, and carefully inject the medicine.
Step Six: Discard the needle and syringe
Throw away the needle and syringe into the Sharps container for safe disposal. Dispose of all medical waste appropriately. If you’re not sure how, or if you have any other questions about administering your medication, you can reach out to us at support@honehealth.com.
